Strategic Land Policy

The Strategic Land Policy Section delivers policy advice on the strategic use of Crown land to meet government priorities and to serve the public interest.

Strategic Policy translates long term government goals into programs and actions to deliver desired changes in the real world.  The Strategic Land Policy Section acts as a bridge between broad government direction, operational policies and Crown land allocation decisions.

Primary Functions:

  • Recommend direction for strategic Crown land policies that guide land tenure decisions, and Crown land sales
  • Work with other government agencies to ensure coordinated government policy as it affects Crown land administration and management
  • Provide policy advice and direction on government priorities
  • Provide policy interpretation and guidance to ministry staff and decision makers
  • Contribute to the development of cross-government policies
