Bill 10, the Veterinarians Act 2010 has now received Royal Assent and will be brought into force by a future regulation. Click here to view a copy of the new Veterinarians Act.

The new legislation is similar in principle to legislation for self-governing professions in British Columbia and other jurisdictions, such as:

  • British Columbia’s Health Professions Act, which empowers self-regulating colleges for health professions, including the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia and the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia;
  • British Columbia’s Social Workers Act, British Columbia’s most recent similar statute; and
  • Ontario’s Veterinarians Act
