BC Food Processing Financial Programs

BCMAL
Industry Development Trust Funds, Partnership Programs: The programs provides the
incentive and opportunity for industry sectors to lead, manage,
and finance their own development by providing partial funding
for development activities and assists industry in establishing
partnerships with other parties who share their development
priorities - using available industry funds to optimum.

Meat Transition
Assistance Program is a $4 million funding
program announced by the Provincial government in April 2006 to
assist with construction and equipment costs associated with
upgrading or building slaughter facilities to the new provincial
Meat Inspection Regulation.

Livestock Waste
Tissue Initiative The Livestock Waste Tissue Initiative envisions all
renderers and livestock tissue generators - be they producers,
slaughterhouse operators or meat processors - being able to
dispose of or use specific risk material and other slaughter
plant waste tissue in an efficient, cost-effective manner.

Processing
Industries: Programs
address specific issues currently facing the processing
industries, deal with improving processing practices or focus on
emerging sectors.
- The Investment Agriculture
Foundation of B.C. invests federal and provincial funds
in innovative projects for the benefit of British Columbia's
agriculture and agri-foods industry. A number of funding
programs are accessible. IAF investments assist the industry to
innovate, seize new opportunities, and deal with emerging issues
and changing market conditions. Funding is not available for
farm/business start-up or expansion.
