AGRICULTURAL BUILDING RIPARIAN SETBACKS
The Ministry of Agriculture has adopted standards to guide local government bylaw development in farming areas (per s.916 of the Local Government Act).
Those standards have been published in the Ministry's Guide for Bylaw Development in Farming Areas ('Bylaw Guide').
In May 2011, the 'Bylaw Guide' was amended to include agricultural building setbacks from watercourses which were jointly created by the many stakeholders on the Partnership Committee on Agriculture and the Environment. The new information begins on page C-25 of the 'Bylaw Guide'.
Letter to Local Governments
A letter was sent to local governments advising of this update and requesting bylaw review and amendment.
